White Sage - Salvia apiana
A sacred plant used traditionally by the Cheyenne, Comanche, Navaho and others. White Sage is used for smudging and carrying prayers. Plants prefer full sun and sandy, fast draining soil. Plants grow to 3 ft. and should be spaced 1 ft. apart. White Sage is a perennial that’s smell is immediately calming to the soul. The leaves are easily dried and bundled for smudging. White sage is endangered in it’s native habitat and one should only purchase the cultivated leaves or grow it yourself! This plant requires the utmost respect.
